The Gili Eco Trust obviously wants to pursue and intensify its action for environment preservation and Gili islands’ sustainable development.
Thus more Biorock structures and mooring buoys will be installed, the process of awareness raising and eco-behavior education will continue, waste management will be improved, more vetiver grass and trees will be planted, new partnerships will be established…

Successes |

Positive effects of the Gili Eco Trust’s action are obvious on land and marine environment.
Amongst latest Gili Eco Trust’s successes are the mooring buoys installation and the strengthening of the agreement with local fishermen.
Thanks to the SATGAS mooring buoys have been installed to define the fishing areas around Gili Trawangan. Thank you to Britta & Moana Liveaboards for their mooring buoys donation. These mooring buoys are rented by the Gili Eco Trust to temporary visiting boats.
In February 2008 the Marine Conservation Office-KSDA, the Gili Eco Trust and local fishermen entered into an agreement on fishing control around Gili Trawangan. This fishing areas system enables a better protection of coral reefs and an augmentation of the fish stock which was dangerously declining. Today members from the SATGAS and the KSDA patrol to be sure that rules are applied. |
