Waste |
|
|
Like in many places, waste is a constant issue for the Gili islands. Please help to set a good example by disposing of your rubbish responsibly. Take your rubbish with you from the beach. The sea is not a waste bin or an ashtray. If there are no bins available please take your waste with you until you find one!
Waste on Gili Trawangan
Please do not take plastic bags when you are shopping on Gili Trawangan. Use your own bag or pocket. Get a reusable bag and encourage local people not to offer or use plastic bags. No dogs, no motorbike, no cars on Gili Trawangan. Help us to achieve No Plastic Bag !
You can also participate to the Clean Up Day on every first Friday of the month. Be ready to register at any of the dive shops and clean the island with the children from the local school as well as with the support of SATGAS, Desa Gili Indah, FMPL, Remaja Karang Taruna and many more residents and businesses who care. Thus you will get a free dive, do not hesitate any longer !
Next clean up day: Friday 6th January 2012 !

Please Remember |
|
|
Some simple gestures that change life, wherever you are:
- Throw your rubbish in the provided bins. Please sort them.
- Refill your water bottle. All the more as on Gili Trawangan it is less expensive than buying a new one.
- Use reusable bags to go shopping instead of plastic bags.
- Switch off the lights and any other electronic appliance when you do not need them.
- Turn the water off when you do not use it.
- Be a role model and raise your relatives’ awareness.
And if you are lucky to be at the Gili islands, please:
- Do not touch the corals, do not walk on them. Be careful, even what you believe to be a stone can be hard corals.
- Do not touch any marine organism, even turtles, even shells.
- Do not throw anything in the toilets, including papers. Because of the septic tank system, it would increase pollution and endanger the environment.
- Report any environmental disturbance or destruction.
Thank you.

Donations |
|
|
Donations are always welcome to help the Gili Eco Trust save the natural treasures of the Gili islands.
If you are a business, you can pay for a Biorock structure and the Gili Eco Trust will customize it model after your brand and your desire.
A donation can also consist in clinic material and school material.
On another hand the eco-tax of 50,000IDR (4€ / US$6) paid by every diver allows the Gili Eco Trust to have sure funds. We hope that the eco-tax system will be applied in every business on Gili Trawangan.
Everyone can help. Thank you so much to all our donators!

Anchoring |
|
Every Gili island has a harbour area with dedicated anchoring areas. If you have a boat or are visiting on a live aboard, please ensure that the boats are responsibly moored, as anchors are one of the largest reasons for coral destruction in Gili islands. If you do not have mooring buoys, please contact the Gili Eco Trust at
