NEXT INTERNATIONAL REEF RESTORATION BIOROCK TRAINING WORKSHOP IN GILI TRAWANGAN, LOMBOK NTB, INDONESIA: 15TH TO 21ST OF NOVEMBER 2010

Join the next Biorock workshop and learn how to set a Biorock reef up.

This training workshop provides the opportunity for dive shops concerned about the deterioration of the world’s coral reefs to start restoration projects using the most effective and exciting methods known, and to educate the diving public about saving coral reefs. The workshop will provide hands-on training in the practice of Biorock® coral reef and fisheries restoration and shore protection, including theory, design, construction, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair. The workshop will inaugurate the new PADI Biorock® Certificate Program, which can only be offered at locations with Biorock® projects, and taught by PADI Instructors who are also Biorock® Training Course graduates.

Sponsorships for Gili islands resident businesses and individuals:

·       Extension of an existing BioRock reef:             US$1200

·       Construction and installation of a new BioRock reef (10m long):            US$1700

·       Anti-erosion BioRock reef (20m long, 5-8m wide):            US$2200

 

The sponsorships include:

Construction, installation, materials, coral attachment, power supply and cable connection of a BioRock reef, teaching materials and maintenance techniques.

Sponsors logo on workshop T-shirts, posters, banners, advert through film and documentary recorded during the workshop.

Participants can be chosen by the Gili islands sponsors and can attend the 7th BioRock Workshop by paying the student’s rate.

Visa and travel Logistic

The visa for Indonesia can be done on arrival, 1 month for US$30.

Different ways to reach gili islands:
  • Flights from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur directly to Mataram, Lombok (US$300-400)
  • Flights from Denpasar, Bali to Mataram, Lombok (US$40-50)
  • Speed boats direct from Bali to Gili isands (US$70 one way), Special rate for return ticket from Gili Cat or Blue Water Express for workshop participants
  • Perama Boat from Bali (US$30)
  • Ferry and shuttle Boat (US$15)

Accommodation

The Gili islands offer a very wide range of accommodation from US$10 to US$100.
Local sponsors have offered free accommodation for scientists, professors, invitees, organizers.
Participants of the workshop will be seeking accommodation of varying levels of comfort during the workshop. November is within quiet season on Gili Trawangan so pre-booking is not required.
